Why Hire a SIOR Designee?

In one of our very first blog posts, we wrote about the CCIM certification. This prestigious certification enables the program’s designees to determine an investment strategy around different property types and investors’ goals. At Linville Team Partners, two of our nine brokers hold this distinction and three others are in the midst of the CCIM coursework.

Another prestigious designation in the world of commercial real estate is the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR). Since our newest team member, Will Blackwell, is a SIOR designee (one of only 14 in the Triad!), we thought it was important to tell you a bit more about what those 4 letters mean!

WHAT IS A SIOR?

Real estate professionals who have earned the SIOR designation are recognized by corporate real estate executives, commercial real estate brokers, agents, lenders, and other real estate professionals as the most capable and experienced brokerage practitioners in any market. SIOR designees can hold the following specialty designations: industrial, office, industrial and office (dual), sales manager, executive manager, or advisory service.

A professional affiliate of the National Association of Realtors®, SIOR is dedicated to the practice and maintenance of the highest professional and ethical standards. SIOR maintains a commitment to business and industry by providing outstanding professional services, publications, and educational programs across the world (active SIOR designees currently span 630 cities across 34 countries).

In order to hold this designation, brokers have to meet stringent requirements. A SIOR applicant must have at least five years of documented industry experience, meet a minimum product level (determined by Gross Fee Income), complete educational requirements, and receive endorsements from two active members in your local chapter.

WHY HIRE A SIOR?
  1. Experience: This designation cannot be achieved over night. By hiring a SIOR, you know that your broker has tried and true experience to help you with your transaction!
  2. Expertise: A SIOR has received education beyond their own experience. In addition to their initial coursework, designees receive ongoing education to ensure that they are staying at the forefront of our field.
  3. Network: Similar to the CCIM designation, working with a SIOR gets you access to their network of other designees around the world. This network is often known for helping one another get deals done!

At Linville Team Partners, we pride ourselves on having brokers who are committed to our clients and to the betterment of our industry. Certifications like CCIM and SIOR exemplify this commitment! Our firm as a whole is made better by the knowledge and track-record of our CCIM and SIOR designees!
